PETER HURLEY - MYSTERY WRITER

Read an Excerpt from BEYOND THE RAIN

In walked RJ’s buddy. Pointed black, four-inch spiked heels, sprayed on black leather pants. She showed a bare midriff, lightening bolt tattoos angling down across her rock hard abs. She had a pierced belly button, and a tight bustier top, breasts bubbling over the top. She had small tattoos of fire flowing off each breast. Lip pierced, nose pierced, six rings in her ear. Her hair clipped up haphazardly.

Myles’ jaw dropped in shock. God, its Danni. His heart turned over in his chest, his pulse hammered in his ears. She walked with such attitude. She commanded the room, made everyone notice and wonder about her.

Jimi Jasteel walked over, his eyes all over Danni. “Very nice, RJ.” He brushed the back of his hand down her bare arm.

“Keep your hands to yourself,” Danni shot back, the fire in her eyes boiling over.

“Mmmmmmm, some fight in her, RJ. I like that. What’s she like in the sack?” Jasteel walked behind her, checking out her ass, the tattoo on her lower back and the one on the nape of her neck.

RJ laughed. “I’m not sure. I am afraid to find out. I’m not sure if I’m the right sex.”

“What’s her name, RJ?”

“Why don’t you ask me tough guy? I’m right here.” Skeleton Head and Happy Face stepped forward as Jasteel raised his hand.
He slid the back of his hand across her cheek.
“Ok, baby. What’s your name?”

“Danni. And yours?”

“Hey, I’m Jimi.”

“Jimmy, cute…” She smirked. “What’ll it be when you grow up?”

He looked at her with a serious face, then broke into a small grin. “I only let hot chicks be that disrespectful.”

He paused, pointed at R.J. and said, “I’ve a job for RJ. He says you’ll take care of it for him. And maybe I’ll take care of you later.” He smiled, showing his gold teeth.

Danni looked at the ropes tying Myles up and it was obvious what was going on there. “No problem.” She pulled her gun, walked over to Myles, and pointed the gun at his forehead.

“Hey, wait a minute, Danni. We’re giving RJ his guns and getting out of here before you pull that trigger. We want to be far from here when you do that, baby.”

RJ checked the guns out, handed over the cash, and headed towards the door. Myles saw RJ glance over at Danni as he carried the heavy bag of guns out to his truck. Jimi folded the cash and stuck the roll in the inside pocket of his jacket. He strolled past Danni letting her see his eyes roaming all over her body. “I’m sure I will see you again.” He gave her a big toothy grin, nodded to Happy Face and Skeleton Head who held the door to his car. He hopped in the backseat and the car sped out of the building.

Danni walked over to Myles, that little smile on her face, the dimples showing. “Now what exactly should I do with you?” She tapped his shoulder, checked to see if the ropes were secure, leaned close to his ear, and whispered, “Was I the Danni you asked out for drinks sometime? Is the offer still open?” She slowly breathed in his cologne.

“Yes, with one change.” Myles smiled. “Not ‘sometime’ but how about drinks right now?”

Danni laughed loud, letting the tension escape. She enjoyed the moment. Myles could see her cheeks blush, a contrast to the attitude and confidence she exuded. “You got it, big guy.” Danni untied him.

As Myles massaged his wrists, he said, “Danni, what would’ve happened here, if they didn’t stop you from pulling the trigger?”

“Well…” She smiled. “That would solve all your problems right? Besides …” Danni tilted her head sideways. “I would’ve stopped and told them to get out first.”

“Good.” His thoughts drifted. “And kindly take your eyes off my abs and my tattoos.”

Myles shook his head and grinned. “You make it hard for me not to look at you. I thought you were all innocent. Man you are bad in a very good way.”

“Come on. Let’s get out of here.” Danni turned and headed for the door. “And stop looking at my ass.”
